It’s been a quiet couple of weeks since the Cardinals-Astros hacking scandal came to light. Now, it appears, we have some news. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the St. Louis Cardinals have fired scouting director Chris Correa, after an “imposed leave of absence.”

It's not a safe few days for front office employees.

After a little while, this started to look more and more likely.
STL Post Dispatch columnist Joe Strauss has been saying for a while that the "prank" aspect and low level aspects are off base, based on what is known about the FBI investigation.
ETA: From the Post-Dispatch and STLtoday.com:

Correa has admitted hacking into a Houston Astros database but said it was only to verify whether the Astros had stolen proprietary data, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

The Cardinals should be contracted for this severe breach of integrity and the Astros should be given the first overall pick in the dispersal draft, which would probably add a couple years to their impending dynasty.

I always thought this was the case. The FBI wouldn't be cracking down on them like this if it was just some low level interns pulling a prank

but i thought it was just some low level intern position people who were just messing around at a sleep over?

It obviously had to be a director or higher. Not everyone in baseball ops would get access to these files (back when Lunhow was in STL).
The big wigs will almost always know about this, but they will be able to pin it on a single exec or high-level employee and move on. I would be shocked if Correa was the only one involved.

What I don't get is why were the Cards so paranoid about Luhnow leaving and taking info?
Don't personnel move from one org to another all the time? Certainly new GMs often/usually come from other organizations.
They seemed to act offended (or worse) that Luhnow went somewhere else, even for a promotion.
This whole thing is weird.
