Surprised no one sees the motive as merely $$. The caps go up significantly in the next few years so signing a 1+1 with player option is smart.

I do wish teams would push back on occasion though. You "had" LBJ on your team last year, yet you didn't win the title so as an organization, when does push come to shove and say "no thanks".

in this world, you are paid on how difficult you are to replace. they had an all time great born/raised right down the road, magically had the #1 pick at the perfect time to draft him, won lots of games with him, lost him in epic, humiliating fashion, watched from afar as their chosen one won titles for another franchise while propping up the entire league as the mega star rock tour all while cleveland went from #1 seed with the MVP to 3 #1 overall picks in 4 years.

he was the clear reason why the franchise played 6 games in the finals. he wasnt solely enough so hes a bum? lebron isnt the problem. the problem is when you get indebted to a scrub star like carmelo. b/c he gets all the star treatment like LBJ, but he cant elevate a team like LBJ has done for the last 8 years straight. thats when you get into trouble. getting too close to the wrong star
