Pros- It will always start and get you from point A to point B.
Cons- Not the most comfortable ride and doesn't get great gas mileage.
Source: I drive a mid 90's 4Runner. I'm sure the newer ones are better.
ETA: Pro-
Looks better at 18 years old than most of the new cars coming out.

Agreed. My 3rd gen's ride wasn't very good compared to the 4th generation.
