If you're into art, Art Institute of Chicago. Insane collection of famous art. Navy Pier is tourist hell.

If you want to have a beach day, head down to North Ave Beach. Great beach, swimming, "sightseeing", close to downtown.
Architectural Tour is a must as well. It's fantastic and about $27 a person. I've been a resident here for 14 years, but done the tour 3 times.
It's a little more crowded on the weekend.
