So, a hog laid in his bed and waited while you clanged through the woods with your climber and bow? You then walked within 25-30 steps with him, never spooking him because of your green light and then he slowly got up and walked away? Also, during his slow saunter away, armed only with your non-spooking green light, you were able to ascertain both his weight and sex? Your story is that you saw a non-confrontational hog once and that you now therefore need to bring a pistol in which the probability of you making a kill shot is almost nil and would only escalate any situation you would have with a hog?

While you may choose to clang through the woods, I personally choose to slip through the woods, quietly, so as not to spook any nearby bedded deer.Been doing it for over 25 yrs baw.
As for the boar I know how big he was as I had numerous pics of him prior to that morning from a game cam roughly 80 yards form our encounter., not to mention a pic of him as he exited the oak flat the morning I bumped him. So yeah....same boar.
As for 300lbs, I could be off.
He MAY just be 275, give or take 25 or so. I personally don't have any intention of arguing with him on his personal weight goals.
