Seems as if he would excel in a fast paced offense , IMO has tons of potential if he can develop a jump shot

He won't be available at #56.

He was rumored to already have a promise from a team in the 1st round.

If we got an LSU player in this draft, I would much prefer Jordan Mickey because of his defensive versatility. He and AD could wreck havoc as a small ball 4/5

Other guy to watch out for is Montrezl Harrell. If he can continue working on his 3 ball, he is the closest thing you will find to Draymond Green in the draft this year. Has a lot of Kenneth Faried attributes too, who Dell loved coming out of that draft

100% yes to Harrell. Absolutely not to Mickey.

Realgm.com had a nice article about Mickey, and the shift to smaller big men on the bench.

Idk which I would rather with this offense honestly. Mickey is the better defender and shot blocker but martin has a higher ceiling on offense. Both are still raw and can improve a good bit.

Interesting article. Not surprising that very atheletic forwards with a few skills (shot blocking and a mid range jump shot) might be used a lot more in small-ball lineups.

Don't see him falling this far.

I think 25-30 are gettable picks. If Harrell falls to there, I wouldn't mind Dell grabbing him. Delon Wright too

What would you see as being the compensation for one of those gettable picks?

Jordan Mickey because of his defensive versatility

A common misconception.

He blocks shots and rebounds. His on-man defense is awful. Like got constantly embarrassed in the SEC bad.

He tends to go for blocks instead of playing sound defense, leaving back door and offensive rebound opportunities galore. Not to mention his handles are as bad or worse than Asik.

Martin would be a 10x better pick for us. Hometown, high explosion, and would REALLY excel in Gentry's offense. I hope we can find a way to get him.

Yeah I would say Martin can be if he isn't already a better all around defender than Mickey. Martin could hold his position in the post while Mickey got pushed around by any post with decent size. If Martin bus in completely to defense he will be clearly better than Mickey in every phase of the game besides shot blocking.

I agree with everything else except for handles. His handles aren't that bad for his size and with work can become a much better ball handler. It will happen

Thank you!! It makes me cringe when people praise Mickey for his D. He was awful.

One on one defense is one thing. Team defense is another. Mickey has the ability to defend the P&R in a multitude of ways and defend the rim when need be.

Martin undoubtedly has more potentially offensively, but I would take Mickey's floor because I think he can be an active big man for 8-15 mins per game at minimum.
