As always, please chime in if you've seen any of these guys play. I think Project will probably drop in to link some articles and I'm sure Adam will provide some commentary. I don't think we've had three pitchers as highly regarded as Pint, Peterson, and Gattys are at this point. Pint is PG's #1 player in the class. We haven't had anyone that highly rated at this point in the process in recent memory. The national showcase is currently ongoing and I'll try to add some notes from the site after it concludes.

If we get 2/3 out of the big pitchers it would be huge

Yep, this is a pitcher's game now, time to load up like Vandy and TCU.

Those guys would be frosh when Lange, Bain, etc are juniors. McKay a soph. That's a vandy/Florida/tcu staff.

No way pint falls past the comp picks but where are the other guys rated among high school players?
Isn't lake Mary where Brady Rodgers the #3 pick came from? If so then scouts got a good look at Peterson

I've seen Josh play all 3 years at Catholic. He will be a difference maker at LSU. He's trying out for Team USA this summer.

The top prospect in the 2016 class, righthander Riley Pint came out showing an easy and loose arm action, producing an easy fastball that peaked at 96 mph in both his innings, working comfortably in the 93-95 mph range both out of the windup and the stretch. When the Louisiana State commit located down in the zone he was able to generate late life to his arm side and did it with plenty of athleticism in his delivery. Though he flashed a single changeup at 84 mph with some fading life to his arm side, Pint also snapped off a couple of sharp curveballs in the 81-82 mph range

Mason Templet (3B, Youngsville, La.) has a very athletic look and he carries his solidly-built 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame very well. The lefthanded hitting infielder stood out in batting practice with an easy weight shift, aggressive, impactful swing and good feel for the barrel, particularly when hitting balls hard to his pull side.

Mason Templet (2016 3B, Youngsville, LA) is limited by a knee injury but had no problem handling the bat in BP. He has an outstanding athletic build with a quick hands and excellent raw bat speed.
quote:
Zachary Watson (2016 SS, Ruston, LA) doesn't look like he'd have lots of bat speed and power at 6-0/165 but he has great sync between his upper and lower halves and strong hands. He has easy loft in his swing and the ball jumps hard.
quote:
Zachary Watson and Luke Berryhill both doubled in the top of the seventh for the Black team. Watson, who was mentioned above for his speed, turned on an inner half fastball and drove it off the Green Monster replica in left field.
quote:
Todd Peterson (2016 RHP, Lake Mary, FL) has a strong 6-foot-5 frame and showed some impressive stuff on the mound to back it up. Running his fastball up the 92 mph with heavy life and running life to his arm side, Peterson showed the ability to locate well down to his glove side. A Louisiana State commit, Peterson showed a nice feel for his mid-70s curveball and flashed a changeup to his arm side at 82 mph.

Woley has jumped into the top 100 following his performance at the showcase and other PG tournaments. Peterson dropped to 91 and Pint to 3.

Slaughter is killing it at Perfect Game WWBA. Pretty impressive considering competition and wood bats.

Yet he plays for West Ouachita
Interesting...

Sounds like he won't make it to campus.

Who do we stand a chance of losing to The MLB Draft, besides Pint?

Probably Peterson and Gettys. They both have power arms and Gettys is a lefty. They will probably all be top 10 round picks. It'll come down to how much money they throw at them.

And how much they want
Posted on 7/1/15 at 10:37 am to Tigerfan_95
We need to start racking up Top 100/200 type prospects like Vandy does. Yeah you'll lose a good bit to the draft but Vandy just brought in 6 Top 100 prospects which is crazy. Just gotta roll the dice to compete with stuff like that.
Posted on 7/1/15 at 11:14 am to thunderbird1100
In that case you basically have to get around 5-10 more commits than you need. You also have to recruit against a lot more power houses

They're also able to offer kids 100% scholarships bc they are a private school.
