I think it's incorrect to 100% assume he will throw in a potential elimination game on Thursday.
They would be in a "win or go home" situation. Of course, I'm not "100% assuming". But I think it's a safer guess than saying he wouldn't throw at all much less start and go as long as he's effective. Let's not forget that he's got an easy, effortless delivery. 95 pitches for him isn't as taxing as the number would normally indicate.

Best scenario is Vandy, Cal St, TCU, TCU and then anyone but Florida

We can and should beat TCU 2 outta 3

Or 2 and Q

The best case scenario is that we win the next four, then two of the following three.

And they would have to win 3 of those games in a row.

College pitchers aren't used to going on 3 days rest. I don't think he would pitch on 3 days rest, and if he did, I would welcome it.

It really all just depends on how much Peitzmeier throws in the next few days. I'm assuming he'll for sure pitch to finish off the game against Vanderbilt. But if Fullerton loses to TCU and he doesn't pitch, I think the best strategy for Fullerton would be to start Seabold on Thursday and see if he can get you through 5 innings. Then you can have Peitzmeier give you 2-3 innings (or more) to close out the game if you need it, which is exactly what they did in Game 3 against Louisville.

Then, you have Eshelman ready to go on Friday, and you hope he gives you a long outing.

My point is, it's not for sure that we're going to see Eshelman either way. Vanderhook certainly wouldn't face any criticism if he didn't throw Eshelman on three days rest.

ETA: If TCU/Fullerton play in the 1-0 game, I'm for TCU. That's just me.

Vanderhook doesn't care about the criticism. He brought back Eshelman on 1 day rest to close out the 3rd game of the super regional. I agree with ell. If Fullerton wins today and loses tomorrow, we see eshelman if we beat vandy.

Now you are talking about LSU when you were trying to make points about TCU and Vandy.

I'm saying TCU is better than LSU. If Vandy is better than TCU, then they also are better than LSU. Having at least two teams in the bracket who are better than we are can't be a good scenario. A better scenario is to be better than as many of the other teams as it is possible to be, which in this case for LSU is two.

Right. And he gets two more days of rest. I'd be surprised if Eshelman doesn't start if they end up in that game on Thursday.

Based on 1 game. Retarded.

No shite. I've said as much.

Yes... being better than another team has its advantages. Your intelligence is amazing to behold.

Right. And he gets two more days of rest.

But he'll be throwing a lot more pitches this time.

I think y'all are underestimating the impact Tyler Peitzmeier can have. Dude has already thrown 5 innings of relief TWICE this tournament He provides another very good arm for Fullerton to use for multiple innings. He's given up 2 runs in 13 innings this tournament.

Seabold has given up 2 earned runs in his last 17 innings pitched. They have other options.

I think Seabold/Peitzmeier would be the move on Thursday, with Eshelman coming back on Friday.

ETA: Unless they throw Seabold on Tuesday.

Gavin (their #2) has looked shaky his last two times out, so maybe they will throw Seabold on Tuesday. We just have to wait and see, I guess.
