Why? Isn't developing players to perform at their best a sign of good coach? Would you feel better about it if the team had the same won/loss record, but without the individual performances? In other words, if it might have looked like they won based on the various intangibles of the game, would that have been more authentic qualifications for this award?

Are there any circumstances where it's a sign of good coaching when a team wins with good players?
