Idaho Republicans want Bible in schools for “astronomy, biology, geology”

Yesterday, we described how legislation in Louisiana may be encouraging teachers to introduce religious material in science classes. But Louisiana is clearly not alone in recommending that its educators engage in constitutionally forbidden activities. Later that day, we were directed to a document suggesting that problems could be brewing in Idaho.
The document is a set of proposed resolutions crafted by the state Republican Party's Central Committee. Among those is Resolution 2015-P20, "A Resolution Supporting Bible Use in Idaho Public Schools." While the Bible could add value to a number of curricula (social studies, literature, and comparative religion, for example, all of which are named in the resolution), it's not widely recognized for being much help with plate tectonics. Yet the resolution also suggests that the Bible should be used in classes on astronomy, biology, geology, world geography, archaeology, music, and sociology. Somehow, chemistry and physics escaped the committee's notice.

Good for us that God didn't leave out chemistry and physics.

Incorporate all of it and let kids decide what they want to believe. Nothing wrong with learning as much as your can about everything.

Those are gonna be some well informed kids.
Like the Louisiana ones. I swear, I've never loved and hated a group of people as much as I do Louisianians. The best and least educated people you'll ever find. I'd trust the average person in my town with my house keys, but not my books. Obviously not a blanket statement.
The fun part is that some people reading this post will think they're not under the blanket. And some of them are even right.

Should we also incorporate Allah and Thetans and let them figure those out as well?

I'm 100% Louisiana. Love the state, hate the politics.

Of our own history books were accurate that would be another thing..but no. No Allah. It doesn't go as well with Apple pie as Jesus.

That's what she said.
Now she's pregnant.
ETA: That was funnier on the submit message page than in the thread.

world geography
Yeah...maybe, for certain regional discussions.

archaeology
I'll allow it. If we are talking about archeological digs in the middle east.

music
One of the first examples of written song in humanity's history. Definitely can be used here. In a Music Appreciation or History class mainly. Or the 1 day they spend on it in a normal class.

Sociology
I don't understand their mockery, or anyone else's on the Bible in relation to this subject. The Bible should be used in this class more than any other except for a comparative religion class. Same goes for the Koran.
Sociology--the study of the development, structure, and functioning of human society.
The Bible has had the largest single influence on today's society and culture. From both an American, and a world wild perspective. No one can argue that. So from that influence, I easily think it belongs in a sociology class. I don't want to argue truth of the Bible, Jesus, any of that. I am simply stating a fact regarding the books impact and it's place in sociology.

I'm not even night crew. I just show up and piss people off, or say weird shite I half mean.
It's all a bit embarrassing, and I probably shouldn't. But I will.
