Tom Hanks
Can't really agree. When one delivers Oscar-quality performances in Hanks' roles from Big, to Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, SPR, Cast Away - and continue to mature into roles such as Charlie Wilson - and go back and look at various early comedic films such as Splash, Bachelor Party, The Money Pit - and see the effort and overall quality of performance he's delivered - Hanks is the closet to a modern day Spencer Tracy as we have, period.

Anthony Hopkins
Disagree.

Al Pacino
Robert De Niro
I categorize these two together as they came up together - and I agree. Deniro probably a little more range and a better comic actor (see Midnight Run - perhaps his most underrated performance) - Pacino only has one gear - and he delivers it wonderfully, but once you've seen his core films Godfather 1&2, And Justice for All, Dog Day Afternoon, Scarface and Scent of a Woman - you've seen every wrinkle he can throw. Both brilliant actors - don't mistake me - but both hurt themselves by doing too much in their declining years and watering down their earlier, high quality bodies of work.

William Hurt
Completely agree - is solid, but nothing ever really stood out.
