Been thinking about nothing but snapper all damn week and trying to decide which way to run Saturday morning. Looking for input from other area OB members. With there only being one weekend for us rec guys to murder some federal water snapper where do ya'll think would be the better area to burn the fuel?

If you can trailer a boat head to Burns Point boat ramp sorta between Morgan City and Franklin and head to SS.

Go south Timb straight out of Wine pass. You can hit 100 ft of water in about 15 miles offshore and there are a bunch of rigs close enough to find them if one is not producing.
and when you come back in, you can fish for specks.

We have a camp in the Coco area so going to run out of there. I would think from Morgan city Eugine Island blocks would be the go to. I figure heading south west should have less pressure but doesn't pay to burn extra fuel to pass up fish. Any rips being reported in the SS area? Might try to drag some baits if they rips aren't too far out. Not looking to run much further than 40 miles out with the crew i will have aboard this weekend.

Good to know. Where you out there? Did any good?

The chicken dolphin are on the rip by the millions. You could literally fill the boat if you wanted. A few bigger dolphin are hanging around as well.

I will be in my 266SF worldcat. Holler at BEER:30 standing by on 16
It would be nice to compile a list of fellow OB member boats that fish the area.

are you fishing mid week again?

Sweet i have never gotten into them before and it would be a blast to let the kids catch some of those.

Is there any other time to fish?

Hope you have a good raw water wash down pump. Those little bastards throw blood everywhere. The fish, not the kids.

Yeah no worries there i will be glad to put some blood into the boat. The boat is new to me since September and hasn't gotten a good blood bath yet. My little ones enjoy the raw water washdown a little too much

We have a crew going this weekend and will run mine and my dad's boat. Both Gravois; 1 a blue 25' and the other a black & white 23'. Both center consoles. We'll be on 16, holler at us if you see us.

Went out stay at the marsh camp sunday/monday, left out of wine island to ST-50ish and there were some nice size snapper there.
Plan on heading out again friday/saturday to do the same. If the rip is only 30+ miles out, we may try that.
#25' Shamrock inboard (white/red) I'll try and listen on 16
QUestion, can you see the rip in this picture? Im guessing it is the dip of clean water going right up to Fouchon? or am i way off? Im new to the offshore game.

ST-50 blocks are inside the 10 mile state limit right?
I went out there a few weeks ago but wasn't planning an offshore trip and didn't have the right tackle. Just had the speck rods but sent some shrimp down anyway and no bites. Really hoping the clean water is that close as well since i would like to break in my new trolling reels
