I agree, I don't think if he was alive he would have allowed Ramsey to write/send the Bastard Letter.
I expect the next book to be released before the next season begins, so while it's possible that the show will spoil something big, I think it's more likely that we'll get the cliffhangers from DwD (more than enough of them), along with smaller reveals and book deviations. By next season, we'll know the answers to a lot of big questions.

This is not directly related but have they completely not doing a Lady Stoneheart in the show. I've been looking forward to seeing that in the show but they may just skip it to have something significant that happens in the book exclusively since the show is almost completely passed the books
