First, Peter Vecsey is hack who lost all nba relevance 20 years ago. He was Skip Bayless before they were giving those hacks their own tv shows. Just a few days ago his "sources" were still telling him Dumars was involved in our coaching search.
Second, Im positive Thibs understands basic nba contracts.
Third and most important imo, when JVG decided to go after the Pels job, Thibs was eliminated. Those two are way too close to go for the same job.
Thibs knew he was getting fired. JVG knew Thibs was getting fired. The fact this was the job JVG decided to go for after all these years, knowing Thibs was probably candidate, leads me to believe those two had to have had a conversation beforehand.

Great points.

A lot of people in Chicago think what helped end Thibs relationship with Chicago's management was JVG acting as Thibs' mouthpiece in the media and ripping the Bulls, publicly, for how they've been treating Thibs.
As soon as Thibs got fired JVG was back at it yesterday. He went on the radio and shitted all over those guys again, to the point where he basically mocked whatever bogus idea the Bulls will put out there about a "coaching search," and wished Fred Hoiberg the best at his new job. Said he hoped they treat Fred better than last few guys there.

So why not say something PC like, "my good friend is currently in considerations for that job," or just quietly decline?
