The Franklin Police Department said they received a call around 9:45 a.m. from a CSX train engineer who said he thought the train hit a pedestrian.
The victim's family told police he left home a short time before the accident to walk to a nearby business where his girlfriend was working. Investigators determined he had stereo ear buds in his ears and was walking with his back to the train when he was struck.
