So you lose a point for players leaving early? And in turn can screw you out of participating in championships?

Currently, teams must earn a 930 four-year average APR or a 940 average over the most recent two years to participate in NCAA championships.

Woah! Didn't know there were a few ties. Changed to a tie-rank numbering.

You're penalized whether they fail out or leave school for the pros.

That's not true at all. Otherwise Kentucky basketball would perpetually fail to meet their APR requirements. Just this year they had 7 players leave school early.

Yes, the key is that those guys that leave have to be in good standing and on track to graduate. Mickey and Martin would not hurt LSU unless they were to drop out or fail this semester, for example. if they drop out to go in the draft prepared, LSU gets dinged for them.

I was just wondering, it doesn't really distinguish, it just says if player leaves school. Doesn't say for what reason.

Reason doesn't matter. Whether they were in good standing and had the credits to be on track to graduate is what matters.

My question is how is Alabama so damn high?

They have had numerous underclass defections as well.

No.

You would be penalized if they went pro early and just said fuggit to their spring semester. It not about whether they graduate of not.

For instance, I think Daniel Orton is the only one in recent memory to really screw Kentucky in this regard

They make damn sure the guys that get processed are in good academic standing.

In other words, "we've decided not to renew your scholarship, but the good news is you get straight As for the semester"
