Why don't we ever hear about singapore

One of the safest, cleanest, least corrupt and most economically viable cities in the world. One of the most business friendly cities in the world. Where East and West meet. Looks like there's a ton of stuff to do. The only bad stuff I've heard about the city has to do with their government openess and draconian treatment for those that break the law but that certainly wouldn't come int play as a tourist. Why don't we ever hear about it. The cost of the flight is about the same as to London too and there's about a million foreigners who live there so people wouldn't be too out of place.

A trip to Singapore is on my bucket list.

Knew a guy who lived there for a little bit.
He said it was absolutely incredible.

Traveling to London takes 1/3 the time it takes to travel to Singapore.

Too many lady-men. Or maybe that's Thailand I'm not sure, but either way, gross.

I've been a handful of times and it is a great city. However, for American tourists it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to visit unless you either live in Asia or are doing a multi-country trip. There's a lot more to see and do in neighboring countries.

That's why they call it Bangkok!

Singapore is one of the most economically viable cities in the world. There's no debate about that.
Singapore is ranked first worldwide for the ease of doing business by the World Bank for 2012, consecutively for 7 years.[13]
Singapore is ranked first in the Global Enabling Trade Report.[14]
Singapore is ranked the 3rd most competitive country in the world.[15]
Singapore is first in the world to have the best protection of intellectual property.[16]
Unemployment rate with 1.9% unemployment (2014 (Q4))
United Nations: Human Development Index 2014, ranked 9 out of 187 countries[20]
The Wall Street Journal: Index of Economic Freedom 2013, ranked 2 out of 155 countries
That seems like econmically viable to me. Unless you thought I meant economical and not at all. And what does time spent on a flight have to do with anything?

Singapore is a law and order nanny-state. It's certainly not even close to having the most freedom. They censor even regular American TV shows, for example. The freedom is for the companies.
Having said that, Anthony Bourdain did a lay-over there and it looked pretty interesting at least culturally and food-wise. If I'm traveling that far I'm going to Tokyo, Seoul, New Zealand, Australia, etc.

I found it very boring.

Singapore makes me think of caning and that's it. There's nothing else offhand that attracts me.

I do a lot of business there. Doing business in Singapore is not easy. In the last few years the Singaporian government is trying to keep out foreigners. They are really upset with the Chinese businesses more than anyone else. In the last three years it has been more difficult to start new endeavors.
Unemployment is low because of government policies to make sure that domestic workers have jobs.
You brought up cost of a flight, I was just bringing up the time involved. Traveling for a vacation and basically traveling for three days limits a lot of people's options.
Drop the travel board in the title so the anchor can be lifted.

As someone who spent last week in Singapore it is an incredible city-state. Especially considering they were a 3rd world part of Malaysia and only became an independent nation in 1965.
It is a great city. I went to Phuket Thailand this past weekend and that was more fun. Singapore is like Asia light...a little too sterile and expensive for me to feel a sense of adventure. There are some amazing sights in Singapore though.

Been there a few times for work. It is a fun city but very expensive. I compare it to an Asian New York City.
Vacation wise there really isn't much to see other than shopping and maybe China and Indian town. Neighboring countries have nicer beaches and historical spots.
