If this happened to some AAAA player on your favorite team, no one cares. It's because it happened to Bryce Harper. It's not a big deal, except for maybe the Nationals.

No it is a big deal because the umpire acted like a damn child. And don't give me the "it just happens" or "it's just baseball" excuse. How bout instead of standing with our dicks in our hand out in the rain, we try to improve parts of the game

An irrational and unnecessary power trip deserves criticism. Of course, when it happens at the highest levels it's a bigger deal not only because it's more popular but the stakes (e.g., money) are higher and those in power (i.e., the umpire in this case) are held to a higher standard expected to have some basic emotional resiliency.

Just like political corruption is a big deal and deplorable at any level; however, it's generally much more newsworthy when it happens at the nationally level than the local level. That doesn't mean some local corruption on the other side of the country doesn't matter, it's just not as newsworthy on the national level.
