It seems you're really reaching. The previous batter has nothing to do with Harper. Maybe the ref is emotionally incapable of handling that, but that only reinforced the absurdity of his actions. This post was edited on 5/21/15 at 12:04 am

It actually had everything to do with explaining there was an ongoing argument between the dugout and the "ref" before Harper even stepped to the plate.
