Simmons isn't even on Campus yet and they are pushing this? Can they do this? Do other schools who have 1 and done players do it like this? Maybe Kentucky because they have players come in bunches, but they make this guy out to be Jesus almost.....I'm not going to lie though, I'm excited!!!

Can they put a picture of a random body and refer to him simply as "he"?

They know what they are doing and the people receiving the email also know who they are talking about....

I was a little surprised by it, but I think it's a pretty solid move marketing wise to use Ben as much as possible to get new fans in the arena.

If you are talking from a purely legal/NCAA type position, LSU has done absolutely zero wrong with this advertising.

While he is not on campus yet, he will be the face of LSU next year so why not use him? Would you have thought this was wrong if they used Hornsby? Ben Simmons will be the highest profile player we have so why wouldn't you use him in marketing?

No where do they compare him to Jesus so that was just using an emotion word to rile people up. I don't argue with stupid.

Overall I think the email will have the word out to more people due to the speculation of it being Simmons than any other picture they could have done. Shoot even Les Miles retweeted it saying he can't wait to watch and that he has season tickets for next year.

AND I'll add because you are misinformed, he will be here in June, not August....

I hate that we did this... I hate anything that puts undue stress on any player, while simultaneously distracting from other players.

Do you honestly think our other players are oblivious to the expectations for Simmons?

That ship has sailed. He is the #1 prospect in the country from the #1 program in the country. The pressure is already there.

Was in Austin during 2006-07 while Kevin Durant was at UTexas.

The insane local hype didn't seem to hurt him too much.

A couple of years from now Ben will sue LSU for using "his likeness" to a sell tickets without him getting compensated. Wouldn't surprise me. I would sue.

L. O. L.

This is one of the most clueless comments I've ever seen.

1. It doesn't even look like him.

2. Have you ever seen a promotion for a sporting team? They always have players on them....
