VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (KRON) — A recently formed music group in Virginia Beach seized the opportunity to play in front of a stadium sized audience, and it was all for a great cause.
Members of the Hot Gumbo Brass Band decided to perform a mini-concert for frustrated drivers and passengers after traffic came to a standstill on Interstate 264 while police worked to clear the scene of an accident, Saturday night.
Many viewers asked 10 On Your Side about a big backup on I-264. Dispatchers told WAVY.com a two-vehicle crash shut down the westbound lanes of the highway at Rosemont Road around 8:30 p.m. Then, WAVY viewers began posting updates about how time stuck on the interstate was spent — it was a traffic jam-session.
The Hot Gumbo Brass Band from Norfolk played while stuck on I-264 for about 40 minutes.

I can see it now. A big rig overturns near the 10-12 split. Minutes later a flat bed trailer pulls up a Lil Boosie proceeds to perform a impromptu rap concert

They sounded like rookies who were just learning to play an instrument. I would rather listen to the static on the radio.

I was stuck on the Atchafalaya basin bridge for hours (6 or 7 years ago). A high school dance team decided to practice their routine right there on the bridge deck. Their bus had a bathroom and lots of drinks and they let some families with kids use it.
Honestly some of the tie ups on the causeways in Louisiana are much longer than 40 minutes. My record is about 3 hours. You could potentially could have a complete rock concert in that time including an intro band.

What BR needs in the event of a traffic jam is a spontaneously huge big tent revival service
