From what I was told - Bulls won't fire Thibbs unless they get a commitment from an upgrade guy - we'll see.

Could be more posturing, but I'm sure the Bulls are pretty conflicted. On the one hand it's obvious they want to be done with Thibs, on the other why pay him $9 million the next 2 years if the person you replace him with isn't as good? Would they take a risk on some of the names we're kicking around? If not it almost seems Hoiberg or bust, so what do they do if Hoiberg says no? Alvin Gentry raised his profile this year, but I think the reservations Fun Bunch has brought up are pretty valid about 2 playoff appearances in 12 years. Monty has 2 in 5.

I think you have to look at an assistant like Kenny Atkinson.

I am hearing that Sean Payton will coach both the Pelicans and Saints next year

I think the best thing for the Bulls/Thibs is that they arrange some kind of buyout where they get out of most of the money in those last two years in exchange for just parting ways.

But I doubt he wants to do that. I think he'll just wait them out and make them fire him and pay him or he'll stay the coach.
