Also, how does student loan money have zero impact on a student?

Ask my wife who ended grad school with 100k in debt, but didn't fully understand just how much of a monthly bill that would be. She realizes how stupid she was now, but it's not like she's the only one. If you could read, you can see that nowhere did I say "zero impact". I said "no understanding of what it's like to pay off".

And I fully understand that this is separate from the budget. Quit bringing that up. And the vote may have not been stated as, "vote for this kick arse pool". But ultimately, students voted on something to provide them with facilities that I believe are not necessary to providing the student with the necessary skills and degree to be competitive in the workforce.

This guy is going past that argument

I'm most certainly not going past that. The rec could use improvements. But doing something like this with that money is just not the best use of the money. Simple as that. Proponents like yourself are saying that the rec is important and that it will attract more students. I'm not saying the rec isn't important, just that in this economic time, the vote for this is a little out of place. It's my opinion.

By that logic there's about 30 degrees at LSU that could be eliminated since they aren't providing the student with the necessary skills or degree to be competitive.

Actually, you said:

quote:

. Using money that really has no effect on the student

Zero impact, no effect. Pretty damn close.

Which is meaningless without health. The correlation between a healthy body and a healthy mind can't be ignored.

The library is horrific, I remember sweating through my clothes in Lockett due to thermostats not working in the summer, I took history classes in desks from 1960 with the windows open to keep cool, I lived in a dorm that was so disgusting that I paid nearly a semesters worth of living expenses in fines just to move out. That's not even touching on getting quality instructors. I graduated in engineering

So you're basing your knowledge of the LSU facilities on the 1960's...

LSU has great dorms and dining halls now that they turn a profit on. LSU has built some very good facilities that do include A/C. The library is a shithole that I would have no problem donating money to tear down as an alum.
