The reason the Titans made this pick is they feel Matt isn't the answer.
Sorry LSU fans, that the truth.
Also, you can't consistently win in this league without a franchise QB anymore.
Add in the rookie wage scale, massively inflating QB free agent contracts, and it makes the most sense to draft QBs high and fill in the gaps via later rounds and free agency.

Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter are LSU fans? Who knew?

Mariota isn't a franchise QB and they will see that pretty early on in his career. If this were 5 years ago he wouldn't have been drafted in the top 20 due to the salary gamble. That's no longer the case since the rookie restructure.

I agree, but I still think they set their franchise back a solid 3-4 years with the Mariotta pick. Mariotta is not the type of QB that you build a franchise around, he is much closer to RGIII than he is to Cam Newton.
The Titans should have either signed a veteran QB or traded for one if they were confident that Mett was not the answer, and focused their draft on rebuilding their horrendous defense or add to their young offensive line. Whoever ends up starting at QB for them this year will be set up for failure, they have no running game and defenses are going to feast on the inexperienced QB play.
