by the time they got to Germany their military would be stretched thin and their supply lines and support troops would be fighting for their lives vs the local forces.
Poland has a little over 100,000 active duty troops with about 1,000 tanks, 2,000 AFVs, 1,200 pieces of artillery, 200 helecopters. They have only 112 fighters.
Russia on the other hand has almost 400,000 active duty in just the army alone. As for hardware:
2,500+ tanks (almost 13,000 in reserve)
3,200+ AFVs (16,500 in reserve)
2,800+ APCs (5,000 in reserve)
5,700+ pieces of artillery
1,500+ SAM systems
and as for the Russian Air Force....
quote:
n 2012, the Air Force was made up of:
38 fighter squadrons (7 operating MiG-29s, one operating the MiG-29S, 2 operating the MiG-29SMT, 7 operating the MiG-31, one operating the MiG-31B, 4 operating the MiG-31BM, 7 operating the Su-27P, 8 operating the Su-27SM, 1 operating the Su-27SM3 and Su-30M2, 1 operating the Su-35S, 1 operating the Su-30SM)
15 bomber squadrons (9 operating the Su-24M, 2 operating the Su-24M2, 4 operating the Su-34)
14 assault squadrons (10 operating the Su-25, 4 operating the Su-25SM)
9 intelligence squadrons (operating the Su-24MR, and various UAVs)
13 training and testbed squadrons
If Russia wanted, they could swallow Poland today.

Like I said before sure Russia would roll into Poland but they would deal with IED's and insurgent like tactics non stop on their supply lines. You also have Polish troops with real combat experience they are going against. The russian army of mostly conscripts who don't want to be there from the remote areas of the country would be in for a fight.

Not all are combat arms troops.

After having been Russia's bitch for so long, the Poles will fight down to every last man, woman and child. Even once Russia overpowered them with sheer manpower there would be a constant state of guerrilla warfare against them.
Whether Putin understands that reality or not is a different story.
