I was on the deck getting my rods together to kayak for reds when my neighbor asks me to go hunt tarpon with him
It's been a few years but for a long time I was consumed with the idea of landing a tarpon on the fly in the lake. I did a lot of research and spent a lot of money buying people drinks to try and lube them up for information. I need to get back on it, I think it can be done.

Tarpon were spotted in the lake last month, if I recall correctly.

Want to do similar at the mouth of the river near Port Eads in August/September.

I think it can too, and from what I've learned from lubed up older Venitian Islanders, late summer is the time. My new neighbor lives for tarpon fishing, but has done most of it between the mouth of the river and Grand Isle In mid summer to fall. Hooking up with one sounds like a rush and I hope it happens.
in the meantime, I'm happy catching trout and reds.
