I've had that feeling many times, where it was so strong that it literally ruined the rest of my day because I felt the need to make sense out of it.
Most recently though, about 3 weeks ago I just woke up from a nap and my wife forced me to go the the dollar store to pick up some chicken noodle soup and children's Tylenol. It's a lot closer to my house than the Wal marks or any decent grocery stores, but I rarely go there. That day though, as soon as I walked in and the little bell rings, I felt this heightened sense of awareness. I felt it the whole time until I checked out. I noticed 2 guys walking in the store about that time and I was really feeling the eeriness of it all. When I turned back to face the cashier, she looked at me and said, "wow, I just got one of those déjà vu feelings." It was one of the strongest ones I ever had and that just made it worse.
It seems like it happens to me a lot when I'm kind of in auto pilot mode or if I'm tired. It has to be something to do with being less awake though, although the feeling wakes me the frick up after I have it.
