I didn't care for ESO, but I am not an Elder Scrolls fan.
My 3 buddies who are ES fans all love ESO online.
I would say don't just say screw it am not trying it, just because you are afraid of saying, "I play an MMO"

I don't know if they fixed ESO for consoles, but it was decimated by reviewers. From what I remember reading, they tore it a new a-hole.
