I read a theory once that these teachers who keep doing this always wanted to be the " it girl" in HS but never were. They were jealous of the popular girls and their BMOC boyfriends....and then when they get back to these environments and find themselves still relatively young...the kids start thinking they are the cool teacher. This translates into them feeling like they ARE the "it girl" and they develop a fantasy world of being back in HS....which leads to flirting with the guy she would never have had a chance with back then...which leads to some really bad decisions. I dunno if this is correct, but it sounds plausible.

That actually makes a hell of a lot of sense. Psycho logic, but definitely sound reasoning for someone in that position. Yikes.

maybe some but not all. the teacher that blew me a few times in high school was popular and homecoming queen in her day, only about 10 to 12 years removed.

Back when I taught high school, they fired a gal teacher for behavior that was pretty much spot-on to that description - trying to be the "it girl" in the high school clique. She was buying them beer, letting them hang out at her pad, letting them leave during lunch. I'm pretty sure some 16yo kid got some slices out of her, but it was never made public.
