Germans showing any kind of pride in their nation.

Most accurate answer here so far. I've been doing some research from the time the Russians got to the German frontier to the capitulation of Berlin. It makes you wish that Von Stauffenberg would have set the briefcase for the kill shot.

I'm no nazi sympathizer, but I don't agree with war crimes regardless of whether it is perceived as retribution or not. It's estimated the Soviet soldiers raped millions of German women from the time they hit the German frontier in 1944 until 1947.

Those rapes were meant to take their pride.

larrygooseman, since you "don't agree with war crimes", what would you have done to Himmler, Eichman, Goring, the commanders of the extermination camps, the killing commandos in the East? "Those rapes were meant to take their pride"? I am sure the average Russian Joe had that in mind, as opposed to remembering how his family was treated when the Nazis invaded Russia.

We should have rearmed them and taken out russia...not to mention a land campaign through all of the middle east.

The next 40 years could have been avoided by removing stalin from the equation.

Hell, putin wouldn't exist.
