It doesn't matter what we think of them today and how we view them here in the future.

The morals in 2015 are not the same as 1789 to 1865 morals. No shite they didn't see it as racist and they saw slaves as simply property like just like we see property like lawnmower to cut grass or a skillet to fry eggs on today.

It's ignorant as shite to assume 2015 morals are the same and translate seamlessly into any random time period.

People considered the practice abhorrent back then as well. A not insignificant amount of founding fathers felt so as well.
