I guess experience comes into play. I've known many many lawyers and I know journalistic investigations and both story lines are hogwash.
I literally turned off the show for a bit when Foggy said that he was going to help fix up the old lady's apartment. What dumb fricking lawyer does that. A smart person documents the living conditions to present at a later point to show that the owner is failing in his duties.

I turned off Arrow in episode 1 of season 2 when Oliver started talking to John and he starts referring to himself as the vigilante. There are literally dozens of people with cameras all around him and he's talking about himself being Green Arrow. I just couldn't do it anymore.

Their whole premise as lawyers is to make a difference and help people. The point was to have a personal relationship with the woman and not be robots to where when she passed it meant more.
They are constantly going out of their way to help people and you find it unbelievable for them to help a woman in need?
Most super hero tv shows have been soap operas with hero action until now, we finally get something that can break the chains of soap opera and go all out and people gripe. They can't please everyone. Show is raved by critics, must be doing something right.
I've enjoyed it so far, binge watched the first 9 episodes and plan on finishing it up tomorrow. Already has me excited for pulse, Luke cage, iron fist and the defenders series coming as well.

I'm a criminal defense lawyer and I enjoy this aspect of the show. Is it realistic? Not really. But it's still more interesting to me than just being a billionaire like Arrow or Iron Man or Batman.
I like his powers although I wish he was stronger. And I wish it wasn't bland Russians. And I wish they used guns more against him. I'm only 3 episodes in but almost every fight is just a fistfight. And he sure takes a lot of licks.
