When did this really start being said by every sports figure and how do we get it gone?

I will exchange every player saying it every time a mic's on front of them in exchange for hearing Les Miles stop saying, "We need to get better. We want to get better. We will get better."

I laugh every time I hear it. I think it's the saying athletes came up with to sound super intelligent.

It's no worse than every recruit or free agent that now says, "I'll be taking my talents to..." or the ones who say I will be spending my next 4 years at....no you won't, you'll spend 3 and then off to the NFL.

You should "work on your posting skills"

We need to stay focused . . .

Of all the worn out clichés, ignorant statements, and flat out bull crap athletes spout off in interviews, "working on my craft" bothers you?

Why does it need to be gone?

As much as I enjoy sports, there are countless phrases used over & over by athletes, coaches and announcers that grate on my nerves.

Truly these are the sage words of gridiron artisans; illuminati melding talent, wisdom, and experience in hand-crafted touchdowns.

Right, how about "Making good pitches," "Scoring the Basketball," "Having a Catch."
All just too Fricking Cute,.

Don't let the athletes join their local covens.

Scoring the Basketball
Sounds really awkward.

Scoring the Basketball
That's one that bugs me, and it seems every talking head grabbed ahold of it. Isn't that the only way to score? Basketball players don't jump, they "elevate." Pitchers don't throw strikes, they "pound the zone." Football players don't go to the NFL, they go to "the next level."
Yeah, I spend way too much time thinking about this stuff.

right after "showcasing my talents" was declared passe', athletes aren't the most cunning of linguists
