Two points here.

1- Obviously, he doesn't read the MSB.

2- Half the MSB are NBA coaches-in-waiting.

That is exactly what I was thinking.

This board is laughable when it comes to this subject. I am going to go with the opinion of Rauf over anyone on this board.

I have seen the same thing that he is talking about. It has been going on for 15 years now. I was watching the Pacers-Grizzlies last night and saw it over and over again. One guy had the ball and 4 guys were standing around. The shot clock got down to 6 seconds and they tried to make something happen. Even the announcers were talking about it.

Of course, the elite players today are as good as the elite players 20 years ago. But, the game overall is much worse than it was back then and I don't even know why that is debatable. High School ball is worse. AAU ball has detrimentally affected development. College ball is much worse. Why should we think that the NBA is the only thing that will be better?

I don't know the ages of the people posting here, but if you didn't actually live and watch basketball in the 80's-90's, you really don't know what you are talking about. I was in high school and college then, but I watched the NBA then as well as now and it was a better game then.

Rauf is right.

As far as your point about 4 guys standing around. We have one man to thank for that-Allan Iverson

Just so you know, that used to happen way more in the 90's than it does now.

That's one of the main reasons why they changed the rules to what they are now. To encourage less iso basketball and encourage more passing.

That is an absolutely horrible example of the current NBA game. The Pacers are shitty offensively and have to bleed clock to keep themselves in most games, and the Grizz played right into that. Go watch teams like Warriors, Spurs, Cavs, Hawks. Their respective schemes are more indicative of the league.

Many posters have come outright and said they could evaluate players better than some folks in the NBA.

Said the same thing when everyone went after Alonzo Mourning..

"No past NBA player has any idea what they're talking about in terms of talent evaluation except for Shaquille O'Neal when criticizing former LSU players that we dislike for leaving school at a bad time." -The MSB

to be fair to the game, there are questions as to whether or not the Grizz mailed it in last night.
