Two points here.

1- Obviously, he doesn't read the MSB.

2- Half the MSB are NBA coaches-in-waiting.

Well it does seem like the MSB (or knowledgeable basketball fans in general) can better assess the game as a whole than a lot of ex-players.

That is exactly what I was thinking.

This board is laughable when it comes to this subject. I am going to go with the opinion of Rauf over anyone on this board.

I have seen the same thing that he is talking about. It has been going on for 15 years now. I was watching the Pacers-Grizzlies last night and saw it over and over again. One guy had the ball and 4 guys were standing around. The shot clock got down to 6 seconds and they tried to make something happen. Even the announcers were talking about it.

Of course, the elite players today are as good as the elite players 20 years ago. But, the game overall is much worse than it was back then and I don't even know why that is debatable. High School ball is worse. AAU ball has detrimentally affected development. College ball is much worse. Why should we think that the NBA is the only thing that will be better?

I don't know the ages of the people posting here, but if you didn't actually live and watch basketball in the 80's-90's, you really don't know what you are talking about. I was in high school and college then, but I watched the NBA then as well as now and it was a better game then.

Rauf is right.
