Ngata is still one of the best NTs of all time.

Poor wording on my part, if I drafted Ngata it would not be to play nose. Ngata seems to play better at DT/DE moving around where he played last year while Brandon Williams manned the nose, but you are correct in that Ngata is a very good NT.

Regardless of Ngata's play at NT vs DT or DE, I just do not get the Ngata to Shelton comparisons other than they are both big Polynesian guys and Shelton tries to "emulate" Ngata. Ngata is much better put together (taller, longer, trimmer) and more athletic. Ngata can play all over the line while Shelton can play nose.

It seems like that is starting to resonate some in the mock draft community and may or may not already be the prevailing thought with people who count. McShay released rankings today that has Shelton No. 14 overall in the class but cautions that he isn't scheme versatile. Mayock also ranks him below Brown (and Armstead for that matter).

I'm almost certain Ngata is a DE, not NT. He's their Jordan/Hicks

I get what you're saying though, and there are some good points you've made in there. Ngata could man the NT position, and he is versatile. If Shelton really is limited, then he may not be the best choice at 13. He would be a good candidate to trade up from 31 to the 20 range if he is still there however.
