planted a few 2 years ago. They did well, they are from 3' to over 6' tall now. Well this yr every single one put on leaves at the bottom of the trunk, about 8-12" from the ground! No single leaves at top of the trees. I have some with 5 foot of bare trunk from the top to about a foot from the base. Any ideas?

You must have planted it upside down...

Agreed, check the roots for foliage.

Well, if the leaves were at the bottom,, did you plant it with your head up yer arse?

The question should be do you have worms with it? Those are great for fishing.

Hacking them back/down isn't the worst thing for them. Keep them low and bushy so the worms are easier to reach.

I heard peeing on the leaves kills the bottom ones and adds nitrogen for the rest of the tree.
