re: M. Night Shyamalan's "The Village" is actually a solid movie

No that was actually one of the clues to the plot. It was a group of modern people trying to sound like an old dialect. This is why the accents and phrases were sometimes odd and inconsistent. I remember saying early on that the accents were terrible. Then I began to wonder if it was on purpose. I liked the movie.

If you put yourself into the shoes of the villagers there was absolutely no good reason to intentionally twist your English from something like "eat your porridge" to "your porridge eat you shall".
It was not a provided clue. I get that the villagers might have wanted to change their clothing to a simpler, less ornate, less modern style. But that doesn't work for language. If you're going to have a twist at least make it an honest one, like in The Sixth Sense.

I think you are being dishonest with people here, and yourself Rex. Again.
They never came close to speaking that bad.

Just because you didn't figure it out doesn't mean it was bogus or a cheat. The clues were certainly there.

You completely missed the point of the entire movie.
No. I didn't. I know what it was about, but it still has a huge, stupid plot hole.

Secondly, things like dew or moisture in the air...clearly those small amounts of water don't affect them.
But one 1/2 cupful, bat accelerated, can cause them great pain?
Look, you may think it's a great movie and want to defend against every criticism, and that's fine. But as far as plot holes go, it's got a big one. I don't buy the 2/3 water thing either, but then there is the rain, dew, fog, and cups of water inconsistencies that just won't go away. At least the aliens could have had sense enough to use protective clothing. But, despite their advanced status as interplanetary travelers, they don't wear protective suits in an environment that is dangerous to them, instead, hiding inside the homes of the people who they are hiding from when a rainstorm comes? Keep coming up with silly explanations.

What plot hole is that then?

You don't see the difference between dew on a plant and a cup of water getting sprayed onto you?

I'm not even trying to defend it to the death or anything. People are allowed to dislike it...that's fine. I just think that often times their reasons for hating it are pretty stupid...and I'm not coming up with any "silly" explanations, but rather coming with pretty easy and reasonable responses to the things you're bitching about.

Oh, you must have grown up in the city. "A plant"? seriously. A cornfield is not "a plant."
And there's not bitching here. It just has a huge plot hole and you have blinders.
