If you're downtown and want to go for a walk during the week it's worth checking out. I would avoid like the plague on weekends though, and agree it's not worth schlepping downtown just for that.

Untouchables' Tour

This. Only about 2 hours and they take you around Chicago in a prison bus type thing. Shows all the mafia history in the city. Famous sites, homes, deaths, etc. Cool history lesson on the subject.

Chicago Architecture riverboat tour is a must.

This. It's awesome. Also, The Bean.

Adding Garrett Popcorn. It's addictive.

Chicago Symphony at Orchestra Hall on Michigan Avenue across from the Art Institute.

The best guide to entertainment is the CHICAGO READER.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Museum of Science and Industry, just a brief Metra ride from the Loop.

The Art Institute has probably the finest collection of French Impressionists to be found anywhere.

Second the architectural boat tour that leaves from Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River. Just be sure the Dave Matthews tour bus isn't in town.

This right here.

Great display of a WWII U-Boat gets most of the press, but overall it's a fantastic visit, nice location.

Also, Chicago-style pizza.

It's the same players every show. I believe right now the show is about ebola.

I went to the UP Comedy Club and that's what I was referring to.

Although it sounds cheesy, I really enjoyed the hop-on, hop-off double decker bus tour of the city. As a first timer, that tour helped our group get bearings of the whole city and was pretty entertaining. Since one of the stops was a block away from our hotel, we used it as a method of transportation throughout the trip.

The Art Institute was awesome. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did. I enjoyed it much more than the Field Museum.

If you do decide to do the touristy things like the Willis, the Museums, etc, make sure you get a City Pass. Save some money and cut some lines.

I spent two days just walking around the city and stopping in to bars and restaurants on a whim. I never had a bad meal. Plenty of good live music. Interesting people. I don't think you need to "do" anything to have a good time in Chicago.

Howl at the Moon is pretty fun. Dueling piano bar. A game at Wrigley.

Your odds of getting murdered in New Orleans (#8) and Baton Rouge (#30) are much higher than Chicago, which isn't in the top 30 for murder rate.

A game at Wrigley.

On a nice spring weekend afternoon, bouncing around Wrigley and heading to the game is just awesome.

The atmosphere will suffer a bit because the bleachers aren't in full swing, but still great.

I agree, but it's a good place to start for the architectural tour. Just go do the ferris wheel for the view at the top (it's pretty cool from out on the pier), then go straight to the boat ride, and you're good.

Second City is definitely worth it. The fat chick that banged Quinn on Homeland is part of the cast, although she wasn't close to being the best cast member.
