You can put GPS trackers in the vehicles and monitor on computer. Notifies you when speed is excessive also. Not sure how expensive.
$ 99.00 one time fee + $23.00 per month per vehicle
Monitors and logs location history & speeding.
Actually helped out a few times with customers disagreement concerning hours on a job site.
If this is used to assist in routing/dispatch it can save a lot of money.
I have heard of a larger company that shuts of the employee company i-phone if they are driving in the company vehicle. This is nazi but I wonder if it cuts down on liability? Cheaper insurance?

I don't know of any insurance carrier which will give a fixed dollar amount discount for any GPS or monitoring technology being used but they sure like a company which has this technology. It makes companies more attractive at (and for) renewal which could translate into insurance cost savings.
Fleetmatics is a NYSE traded company which specializes in Satellite monitoring and reporting of vehicle activity. I'd give them a hard look before going anywhere else.
