Rewatched last night.
I completely forgot at the beginning of the movie that Murph tells her dad "I thought you were the ghost." Talk about foreshadowing.
Also forgot how fricked up it was for Coop to tell his daughter, right before he had to leave "They chose me. You saw that. You're the one that led me to them." Who the frick tells their child that right before they basically abandon them for the rest of their life? He basically told her "Yeah, I'm leaving and it's your fault."
I wonder what made Tom's first kid (Jesse) die. I assume it was the black lung, which they were checking for later in the movie. But they never really say.
I know there was a lot of discussion in the original thread about whether or not the wormhole was still open at the end of the movie. While they don't definitively say, upon rewatch it has to be. I know that there was some debate as to whether or not Coop was leaving in the end to go find Brand, or just to explore in general..but it HAD to be to find Brand. That was the whole point of his last talk with Murph.
And speaking of that talk, I'm more cool with it than I was the first time around. They both had gotten their closure and said what they needed to say, and she knew that he was meant to do things better than just sitting around waiting for her to die (like going to Brand, for example). I still am not crazy about such a seemingly short reunion between the two of them, but I can at least appreciate it more upon a second viewing.
After seeing this a second time (first since I saw it in the theater), I came away with it with a greater appreciation for it. Especially the ending. And while I still think the last 30 minutes or so is definitely weaker than the rest of the movie, I think they did a solid job with it (as good as they could have with what they were trying to accomplish basically). I think I like it more than I did after seeing it the first time. It definitely could've gone down as one of the GOATs with a better ending, but it's still pretty awesome.

That's one thing I would have changed is having Cooper sending himself there. Maybe have him leave and still be apprehensive on the Ghost's existence. Because him trying to get Murph to tell him to stay just doesn't make as much sense if he knows the Ghost is real when he leaves. I could see the "STAY" message slipping his mind if he didn't believe in the ghost when he left, and then as soon as he does the "STAY" message, he realizes that he was the Ghost all along.
And also it would have been pretty easy to just have the initial pilot for the Endurance die somehow, and then going to Cooper as the last resort to save humanity. Cooper just stumbling upon NASA and them not having a clue that he's still alive just didn't make much sense to me. NASA for sure would have at least kept tabs on him.

The thing is the two of them had gone so long without seeing each other that really all the other needed from the other is closure. They both understood that they did what they had to do to save the species, and that while Murph's job was finished, Cooper still had stuff to do, and he needed to go out and do it rather than living with regret that he abandoned his daughter and trying to make amends for it.
