Tux runs about a 100
Prom dinner date runs about a 100.
yep
my parents paid for the tux and my Dad gave me $100 was I was walking out the door to go pick up my date
and for chicks, there are plenty of "rent the runway" type sites nowadays for formal dresses
my wife uses it a lot for weddings and formals so she doesn't buy a dress for a one time event

I've been racking my brain thinking of everything that goes into paying for prom. Not everything required for prom, but what could in a realistic scenario need to be paid for (for both people):
Tux Rental
Corsage
Dress/Shoes
Spray Tan/Haircut/Makeup Stuff
Dinner
Limo
Tickets
After Party
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things here and there, but how in the world can all of this cost $1,300?
Are they including the cost of condoms, a hotel room, and Taaka Vodka?

We got a limo and I bought a corsage for my girl.
Maybe a case if beer and some boones farm.
That brigs the total to around 350-400.

I could see getting upward toward $1k for a daughter but couldn't imagine approaching that number for a son.
tux - $150 if you don't own one
dinner - eating out is cheap when you aren't old enough to drink, wine usually makes up more than half of my bill
limo - couple hundred per couple
after party drinks - high school kids can't drink much
