People are naturally heel strikers or forefoot strikers.

In general (this is not a 100% rule), I will not try to change someones running mechanics based on the heel/forefoot striking criteria alone.

Typically use it as a last resort for someone with chronic issues b/c you are right, changing someones form drastically can and often times does lead to other injuries due to muscle imbalances and questionable form. You cannot master running form quickly similar to you can't master a new golf swing quickly without constant feedback.
