If he was smart and according to every scout/analyst I've heard talk, he should come back.
The average salary is $65000 overseas. To him that may sound better than coming back to school.

He's probably focused on the $$$$$ now or $$$$$ later.
He'll take the now. Not many athletes are committed to winning a title at the college level but more of the "if it happens, it happens." College is a place to showcase what they got and the goal is to get paid for being good at a GAME.

I posted this on a headline article but I'm going to post it here as well...
If he can improve his draft stock to be a first round pick after another year at LSU he will have a much higher paying contract/signing bonus than he will this year as a late round pick.
As a late round pick he's going to get less money and have much more competition to resign. He will always have competition to resign but if he stays and raises his draft stock, he'll make first round pick money. There's a big difference between $8 mil. vs. $800k.
I honestly think he can make more money in the NBA if he stays another year.
