There may be those who say this is not a Pelicans thread but it is a New Orleans pro basketball thread. I have listened to countless hours of basketball on the radio during my lifetime and I have always said that the best announcer I have ever heard was Hot Rod Hundley when he did the Jazz games in the 1970's. He has passed away at the age of 80. He must have been a fish out of water when those a$$ h----s moved the team to Salt Lake City. He loved New Orleans and loved partying in the French Quarter. May he rest in peace.

A.J. from the parking lot...
A gentle push, a mild arc...and the cowhide globe hits home.
RIP Hot Rod.

Hunley, Van Breda Koff and Maravich were a great combination in N.O.

I had a truck Robinson jersey as a kid and never wanted to take it off. Hot rod was a true original...we will never see the likes of him again

Drive hang shoot score!
Goodrich yo-yos the dribble
I like the way he'd periodically recall the night he and Elgin Baylor "combined for 73 pts". (Elgin had 71) lol

Ran into to Rod and Rich Kelly one night at Pat O'Briens. My friend bought Hot Rod a shot, and he poured it into his eye. The guy was a great color man., and yes, he loved the night scene in NOLA.
