Is there that big of difference between the average players? I understand they dont have the dempsey and Altidores of the Mls but just basic players cant be that big of a gap. What about players being paid and attendance because looking at some of Nasls numbers there not that bad in regards to attendance.

They just signed a deal with ESPN to distribute their games through ESPN3, so you can now watch for yourself.
The NASL isn't awful. I might watch a few games over the season. But, I'm not going to sit down and compare the average MLS starting player to the average starting NASL player.

They had some teams that looked kinda of ok as a unit during the US Open Cup games that I watched last year but on the whole their talent is a clear step below.
Fabian Castillo was running circles around the Carolina Railhawks and they were a middle table NASL squad last season.

Yes there is a huge difference, although the NASL party line is that there isn't. NASL may come into some trouble here in the next few years with MLS teaming up with USL. NASL's DII status may be in danger of slipping to DIII.
eta: I know some guys that made the Armada here in Jax. All are great players but not elite in any way. Some are in their mid 30's and couldn't make a squad or couldn't hack it in MLS 10-15 years ago when they were younger and the MLS wasn't as good as it is now.

Do any NASL teams play on artificial turf? I still don't understand why some MLS teams play on that crap. The league will never be taken seriously if the continue to play on plastic fields
