lol
Last night was a bloodbath and one of the more thorough demolitions I've ever seen WVU be on the wrong side of.
All I'm saying is that you are making Miles statements out to be a way bigger deal than they are. These are teenagers talking shite, it's what they do. Once the ball tips off that shite is the last thing on the mind of the players.

So you don't think your team would have given max effort in the Sweet 16.
I think they would've played hard enough to win, but with a Thursday/Saturday turnaround could've laid back a bit with the game in hand. It's something they've done all season without issue.

I'd assume that would terrify you as a fan of that team, correct? If that were my team, knowing they're not giving max effort in the NCAA tourney, that doesn't sound like a very likeable team.
Nah. If they know they're coming against a good squad they've risen to the competition all season. I was more worried about a significantly lower seeded team catching them looking ahead. That's not going to happen at this point.
And they're very likeable. One of my favorite squads in a long time.

Ulis and Co. expressed multiple times in the post-game that they took it personally that WVU players didn't think they played hard enough. So they paid attention.
And the kid guaranteed a win in a Sweet 16 game. His teammates then backed that up with a handful more slights at UK. To the press no less.
And we're posting about it on a message board. I think the kid is going to be ok. Lord knows if you had won you'd be championing the hell out of those comments, like your fans did when Butler mocked the John Wall dance after beating UK.

You are diminishing the greatness of this UK team if you think they let an 18 year old bench player get in their head.

They're 37-0. It's obviously working for them. In spades.

Not at all. Why wouldn't I enjoy a team who is so good they can turn it on/off at will and still be 37-0? That's silly.

People hear this and think there will be extra motivation as opposed to if the WVU kid said nothing. What gets lost is these players at these higher levels are going to find the thing, anything needed to motivate them. So if the WVU kid didn't say it, they would have just moved on to the next thing and found something else to motivate them. Meaning, they would have been max motivated and giving max effort regardless.

Giving them a little bit more motivation =\= get in their head
Getting in their head would be UK getting so emotional about it that they overplay, get too aggressive and it gets them rattled.
Your players just gave them another reason to not make it look just pedestrian.
The funniest part about it is your players probably also caught they refs attention in the process. They called that game early on like a fight could break out at any minute over contact.

They play hard enough. They don't always have to "play hard". WVU players suggested they couldn't play as hard as they do and they obviously could.
Apples and oranges.

Like I said, they don't have a problem turning it back on. But I doubt that will be an issue going forward. You're in the Elite Eight at this point. It's all tough matchups from here.
So no, I'm not particularly worried. Their results speak for themselves.

So WVU players talk shite about Kentucky.. They say UK doesn't play hard, and that they'll be 36-1 after the game. WCS says in response, "Adds fuel to the fire. Puts a little personal stuff into it… Now I'm kind of juiced, this game is going to be really fun. They made it kind of personal now." UK goes out and obliterates them and Devin Booker posts after the game on twitter, "36 and won."
Yeah they didn't have it on their mind at all…..

Motivation comes from all different places and things. Is there really a "Max" motivation level? Of course they're motivated to go undefeated, doesn't mean that something like another team shite talking them can't still kick it up another level.
Your logic is killing me right now if that's what you're really trying to harp on.

So if he would have said that hefore the title game are you saying kentucky wouldnt havr tried their hardest for a titlr game already?
Posted on 3/27/15 at 9:16 am to BluegrassBelle
It actually seemed like they supported the content of the WVU player's trash talking. They're admitting to playing harder last night, which means they haven't been putting that same effort in for other games (which they obviously didn't need). That is what the WVU player said (minus the losing part).
