But if players don't mesh well and there's bad chemistry the team will almost always suck.
Well, whose fault is that?

I mean, it's definitely on the coach. He recruited the players and if they can't mesh well it's on him. It's not easy getting a bunch of all -stars from their AAU team to mesh well together and that's why UK struggled at the beginning of last year IMO. There's occasionally so much talent that it doesn't matter, but getting the guys this year to agree to play 20 minutes a game and put away their egos is one of the best coaching jobs I've seen. If Tony Bennett or someone gets Coach of the Year over Cal they should never give away the award again.

And if you're going to call Cal out for the misfire in 2013, then you can't really talk out of both sides of your mouth and not credit him for his ability to get those egos to mesh every other year he's been at UK.

Take the names out of the equation for the sake of argument.
Which is better or perhaps less embarrassing:
To be a mediocre/decent team and lose to a bad team on the road or to be a great/very good team and lose to a mediocre team on a neutral court?
Personally I think both are terrible but the fact that Duke has done it twice in recent memory might be the trump card.
