I've actually had this exact scenario go down while jogging on Holiday Isle when I lived in Destin, except it was a black lab on a leash and it actually bit me. Female owner of the dog and I crossed paths jogging in opposite directions and her lab jumped up and bit my thigh completely out of nowhere; it kind of hurt and I found out it broke the skin when I got home. You know what I did when it happened? I kept on jogging because I'm not a pussy. It didn't make me fear my own labs or any other dogs to the point where if I now see another dog approach me I'll kick it, this guy is most certainly a pussy. I feel like I should disclose that the wife and I currently own a Puggle, so this story would probably piss me off less if it had been a pit bull or similar breed.
