Which athlete made you feel old when they retired?

For me, it has to be Derek Jeter. He's the first really famous athlete I can remember vividly from the beginning of their career to the end. It didn't seem that long ago he was the 21 year old phenom shortstop who led the Yankees to championship glory after a long WS drought. No matter what was going on in my life or in the outside world, the one constant was Derek Jeter playing SS and hitting singles to the opposite field with his inside out swing for the Yankees. It felt surreal when he announced his retirement. He was the face of a lot of our childhood sports memories and now he's gone. So it really struck a chord with me how the years have gone by when Jeter retired.

Chris Borland. Feels like only yesterday he was in college.

Adam Dunn. It doesn't feel like it was all that long ago I was watching him as a Louisville Bat.

Brady James. Graduated from WMHS a year after me.

Jason Kidd and Grant Hill. Watched them as rookies at The Summit as a kid when I was really getting into basketball. Both played forever, though. Most my life, actually.

Griffey Jr, he will always be "The Kid"
